2 Timothy 1 · a question people ask
"That good thing which was committed to you, guard" (1:14). What is that good thing?
The letter doesn't say. Two verses before, its I says, "I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day." (1:12). Then it tells Timothy, "That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us." (1:14). It doesn't say what either is, and these notes don't either.
The verses
“For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.”
“That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.”
