1 Corinthians 12 · a question people ask
"those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary" (12:22). Which members are these?
The verse runs, "No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary." (12:22). The chapter has been speaking of parts of a body: the foot, the hand, the ear, the eye, the head and the feet (12:15-21). It goes on to the parts "which we think to be less honorable" (12:23), and says, "But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part" (12:24). It doesn't say which part of the body seems to be weaker, and it names no person or group among its readers, and these notes don't either.
The verses
“No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. Those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant modesty, while our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part,”
