1 Corinthians 12 · a question people ask
The verse runs, "But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you." (12:31). It doesn't name the way there, and these notes leave the next chapter of the letter to speak for itself. They don't say which gifts are the best gifts.

1 Corinthians 12 says "God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired." (12:18), and later, "God has set some in the assembly" (12:28): in the Greek, the same verb. It says "there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit" (12:4), and "Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually." (12:27).
