1 Corinthians 1 · a question people ask

"For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom" (1:22). Is the letter speaking of every Jew and every Greek?

In the text

The verse doesn't say every. Two verses on, it speaks of "those who are called, both Jews and Greeks" (1:24). These notes say no more of 1:22-24 than the verses say, and apply none of it to any people, group or person today.

1 Corinthians 1: Christ crucified

1 Corinthians 1 names Christ in every one of its first ten verses but one, and then asks, "Is Christ divided?" (1:13). It goes on to "the word of the cross" (1:18) and "Christ crucified" (1:23), and ends, "He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord." (1:31).
