1 Corinthians 6 Bible study: Bought with a price
Go to law (6:1, 6:6) and judge in "the saints will judge the world" (6:2) are one Greek verb: the ones by whom "the world is judged" (6:2) are the ones who "go to law" (6:1) before unbelievers (6:6). And "You are not your own" (6:19) runs straight on into its reason, "for you were bought with a price" (6:20).

“Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

What's really going on
Before the saints
The chapter opens with a question: "Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?" (6:1). Then two more, each beginning "Don’t you know": "Don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?" (6:2) (tap judge), and "Don’t you know that we will judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?" (6:3) (tap life). From the world and angels the verses come down to "the smallest matters" (6:2) and "things that pertain to this life" (6:3). "If then you have to judge things pertaining to this life, do you set them to judge who are of no account in the assembly?" (6:4) (tap no account). "I say this to move you to shame. Isn’t there even one wise man among you who would be able to decide between his brothers?" (6:5) (tap shame, decide). "But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers!" (6:6). The chapter doesn't say what the matters were or who went to law, and these notes add nothing to it.

The Greek word behind it
ἀγοράζωagorazosay ag-or-AD-zo
Strong's: "properly, to go to market, i.e. (by implication) to purchase". "for you were bought with a price" (6:20): behind bought is this verb. The New Testament has it 31 times (counted in RP2018), 21 of them in the Gospels, among them "For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food." (John 4:8). The verse doesn't say who bought them or what the price was, and these notes don't either.
