Philippians 3 · a question people ask
"forgetting the things which are behind" (3:13). What are the things which are behind?
The verse doesn't say. Its words are the letter's I's, about itself: "Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before" (3:13). It doesn't name the things which are behind, or the things which are before, and these notes don't name them either. They apply the words to no one's past.
