John 10 · a question people ask
"It was the Feast of the Dedication at Jerusalem" (10:22). What feast was that?
John's Gospel says only this: "It was the Feast of the Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch" (10:22-23). The WEB has the words Feast of the Dedication only here, and John's Gospel doesn't say what the feast marked. Favor's chapter on Numbers 7 studies the Hebrew word for the dedication of the altar there, and says that nothing in the Bible ties this feast to the altar of Numbers 7. These notes add no history from outside the Bible.
