Acts 8 · a question people ask
"Simon himself also believed" (8:13). What does the chapter go on to tell of him?
The chapter tells what Simon did and said, and what Peter said to him. "Simon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip." (8:13). "Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money" (8:18), "saying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”" (8:19). Peter said to him, "You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God. Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you." (8:21-22). "Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”" (8:24). The chapter says no more of Simon after 8:24, and gives no more of his believing than these verses. These notes don't go further than they do.
