Acts 28 · a question people ask
"The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers" (28:25). To whom does Paul give the words from Isaiah?
The chapter says when he gives them: "When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one message" (28:25). Many people had come to his lodging (28:23), and "Some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved." (28:24). After the words from Isaiah (28:26-27), Paul goes on, "Be it known therefore to you that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen." (28:28). The chapter doesn't say whether Paul meant the words for all of them or for some. These are Paul's words to those before him that day, and these notes apply them to no people today.
