"Beloved, you do a faithful work" (1:5). What work is it?

In the text

The verse goes on, "in whatever you accomplish for those who are brothers and strangers." (1:5). The next verse says, "They have testified about your love before the assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their journey in a way worthy of God" (1:6). And 1:8 says, "We therefore ought to receive such". These notes add nothing to these words, and they set no other verse beside them.

3 John 1: A faithful work

3 John is from "The elder to Gaius the beloved" (1:1). It tells him, "you do a faithful work in whatever you accomplish for those who are brothers and strangers" (1:5), and it says, "We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow workers for the truth." (1:8).
