2 Corinthians 8 · a question people ask
"the brother whose praise in the Good News is known throughout all the assemblies" (8:18). Who was he?
The letter doesn't name him. It says only that he is "the brother whose praise in the Good News is known throughout all the assemblies" (8:18), and that "he was also appointed by the assemblies to travel with us in this grace" (8:19). It doesn't name "our brother whom we have many times proved earnest in many things" (8:22) either. These notes don't name or identify either of them, with anyone in this letter or anywhere else.
The verses
“We have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the Good News is known throughout all the assemblies. Not only so, but he was also appointed by the assemblies to travel with us in this grace, which is served by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and to show our readiness.”
“We have sent with them our brother whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he has in you.”
