1 Peter 4 · a question people ask
"If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed" (4:14). How can being insulted be called blessed?
The verse gives its own reason: "because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you" (4:14). And the next verse goes on, "But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters." (4:15). These notes don't explain the reason beyond its words, and say nothing of anyone's own insults today.
The verses
“If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters.”
