1 Peter 1 · a question people ask

"Therefore prepare your minds for action." (1:13). What does that mean?

In the text

The verse goes straight on: "Be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1:13). Behind the WEB's prepare your minds is a Greek verb that Strong's gives as "to gird afresh", with a noun that Strong's gives as "the loin" (tap prepare). These notes say no more of the words than the verse and the lexicon do.

The verses

“Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ—”

From Favor's study of 1 Peter 1

1 Peter 1: Born again to a living hope

Born again (1:3, 1:23) stands for one Greek verb that the New Testament has only in this chapter. And behind foreigners in 1:1 is the word the WEB gives as pilgrims in "foreigners and pilgrims" (2:11).

In Favor, questions like this come up right where they arise as you read, with the Hebrew and Greek behind the words and how the chapter leads to Jesus.
