Romans 7: Joined to another
Read Romans 7:1-25 before you meet.
In a few lines
Romans 7 asks "Is the law sin?" (7:7) and "Did then that which is good become death to me?" (7:13), and answers both "May it never be!". Twice it is sin, "finding occasion through the commandment" (7:8, 7:11). And the cry "Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?" (7:24) is followed by "I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!" (7:25).
The verse to carry
“Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit to God.”
Romans 7:4
To talk about
1. "What shall we say then? Is the law sin?" (7:7). The letter asks its own questions and answers them. What question about the law would you most like to talk over?
2. "that we might produce fruit to God" (7:4). What would you like your life to produce for God this year?
3. "I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!" (7:25). What would you like to thank God for this week?
