Revelation 7: Holding the four winds

Read Revelation 7:1-17 before you meet.

In a few lines

The four angels hold the winds "so that no wind would blow on the earth, or on the sea, or on any tree" (7:1), and the angel with the seal cries, "Don’t harm the earth, the sea, or the trees, until we have sealed the bondservants of our God on their foreheads!" (7:3). Earth, sea and trees stand in both verses: kept from the wind, and kept from harm until the sealing.

The verse to carry

“saying, “Amen! Blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might, be to our God forever and ever! Amen.””

Revelation 7:12

To talk about

  1. 1. The angel carries "the seal of the living God" (7:2). What difference does it make to you that God is called "the living God"?

  2. 2. Around the throne "they fell on their faces before his throne, and worshiped God" (7:11). What do you do with your body when you pray or worship, and why?

  3. 3. Asked a question by one of the elders, John says, "My lord, you know." (7:14). When has it helped you to say that you don't know, and wait to be told?
