Psalm 102: But you are the same
Read Psalm 102:1-28 before you meet.
In a few lines
Psalm 102's title names no one: it is "A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed" (102:1). Three times it turns with the same Hebrew word, "But you" (102:12, 102:26, 102:27), from the psalmist's short days to God's years. And Hebrews gives 102:25-27 "of the Son" (Hebrews 1:8).
The verse to carry
“But you are the same. Your years will have no end.”
Psalm 102:27
To talk about
1. The title calls this a prayer for someone who "is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the LORD" (102:1). What would it look like for you to pour out your complaint to God this week, rather than keep it in?
2. "My days are like a long shadow" (102:11), then "But you, LORD, will remain forever" (102:12). When your own days feel short or heavy, what helps you look up from them to God?
3. "This will be written for the generation to come" (102:18). What has God done for you that you would want someone after you to know?
