Matthew 25: Those who were ready

Read Matthew 25:1-46 before you meet.

In a few lines

The lord says exactly the same words to the servant who gained two talents as to the one who gained five (25:21, 25:23). And at the King's judgment, those on his right and those on his left both answer him with a question that begins, "Lord, when did we see you" (25:37, 25:44).

The verse to carry

“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

Matthew 25:40

To talk about

  1. 1. Jesus ends the story of the ten virgins, "Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming." (25:13). What helps you keep watch in an ordinary week?

  2. 2. The righteous answer the King with a question: "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?" (25:37). What do their words stir in you?

  3. 3. The King says, "I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in." (25:35). Which of his words stays with you most, and why?
