Matthew 11: Come to me
Read Matthew 11:1-30 before you meet.
In a few lines
When John sent from prison to ask, "Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?" (11:3), Jesus didn't answer yes or no: he sent back what they heard and saw (11:4-5). And before the chapter ends he says to all who labor and are heavily burdened, "Come to me" (11:28).
The verse to carry
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
To talk about
1. Jesus told John's disciples, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see" (11:4). When you have questions about Jesus, where do you go to look?
2. Jesus compares this generation to children in the marketplaces (11:16-17). What do you notice in his comparison, and what does it ask of anyone who hears it?
3. Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (11:28). What would it look like for you to come to him this week?
