Luke 17: Where are the nine?
Read Luke 17:1-37 before you meet.
In a few lines
Ten men were cleansed as they went. One, "when he saw that he was healed, turned back" (17:15), and Jesus asked, "Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?" (17:18). In the Greek, turned back and returned are one verb, and in the Greek the WEB translates it is the verb of the shepherds who "returned, glorifying and praising God" (2:20).
The verse to carry
“One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.”
Luke 17:15
To talk about
1. Jesus said, "If he repents, forgive him" (17:3), even "seven times in the day" (17:4). What makes forgiving the same person again hard, and what helps you do it?
2. One of the ten "turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice" and fell at Jesus's feet, "giving him thanks" (17:15-16). What has God done for you that you could turn back and thank him for this week?
3. The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." (17:5). Where would you most like to ask him that this week?
