Leviticus 26: If you walk in my statutes
Read Leviticus 26 before you meet.
In a few lines
Leviticus 26's warnings take back its blessings one by one, and its word for walking "contrary" (26:21, 26:24) appears nowhere else in the Hebrew Bible. Yet it doesn't end there: after "If they confess" comes "I will remember my covenant" (26:40-42), and "I will not reject them" (26:44).
The verse to carry
“I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.”
Leviticus 26:12
To talk about
1. The warnings say what they are for: "If by these things you won’t be turned back to me" (26:23). When has something hard turned you back toward God?
2. The way back begins, "If they confess their iniquity" (26:40). What makes it hard for you to admit a wrong, to God or to someone else, and what has helped?
3. "I have broken the bars of your yoke, and made you walk upright" (26:13). What has God set you free from, and what would walking upright look like for you this week?
