Isaiah 32: Until the Spirit is poured
Read Isaiah 32:1-20 before you meet.
In a few lines
The women "at ease" (32:9) are called "careless" three times, and in Hebrew that is the verb for trust. After the Spirit is poured "from on high" (32:15), the word for at ease and two words Strong's gives as coming from that verb come back: "confidence" (32:17), and "safe dwellings" and "quiet resting places" for "My people" (32:18).
The verse to carry
“The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.”
Isaiah 32:17
To talk about
1. The chapter calls those who are "at ease" to tremble (32:11), and then promises "quiet resting places" (32:18), with one Hebrew word for *at ease* and *quiet*. What do you think is the difference between the two?
2. "The work of righteousness will be peace" (32:17). Where have you seen doing what is right bring peace with it?
3. "The fool will no longer be called noble" (32:5). Why do you think it matters that people are called what they really are?
