Isaiah 27: A pleasant vineyard
Read Isaiah 27:1-13 before you meet.
In a few lines
In chapter 5 the vineyard would grow briers and thorns and have no rain (5:6). In chapter 27 the LORD says of the vineyard, "I, the LORD, am its keeper. I will water it every moment" (27:3), and after words of battle, "Let him make peace with me" (27:5). At the end Israel is gathered "one by one" (27:12), and at "a great trumpet" those ready to perish and the outcasts come to worship (27:13).
The verse to carry
“I, the LORD, am its keeper. I will water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I will keep it night and day.”
Isaiah 27:3
To talk about
1. "I will water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I will keep it night and day" (27:3). Where have you seen God's steady care in an ordinary week?
2. "let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me" (27:5). What would it look like for you to take hold of God's strength this week?
3. "you will be gathered one by one" (27:12). What does it mean to you that God gathers people one by one, and who might need to hear that this week?
