Hebrews 6: The same diligence
Read Hebrews 6:1-20 before you meet.
In a few lines
Showed in "the labor of love which you showed toward his name" (6:10) and show in "show the same diligence" (6:11) are one Greek verb, and Hebrews has it nowhere else. And that love was shown "in that you served the saints, and still do serve them" (6:10).
The verse to carry
“We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fullness of hope even to the end, that you won’t be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises.”
Hebrews 6:11-12
To talk about
1. "the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them" (6:10). Where have you seen love shown by serving like this?
2. "We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence" (6:11), "that you won’t be sluggish" (6:12). What helps you keep going when it would be easier to slow down?
3. "let’s press on to perfection" (6:1). What might pressing on look like for your group in the weeks ahead?
