Hebrews 6 Bible study: The same diligence
Showed in "the labor of love which you showed toward his name" (6:10) and show in "show the same diligence" (6:11) are one Greek verb, and Hebrews has it nowhere else. And that love was shown "in that you served the saints, and still do serve them" (6:10).

What's really going on
The first principles of Christ
The chapter opens: "Therefore leaving the teaching of the first principles of Christ, let’s press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God," (6:1) (tap foundation) "of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment." (6:2) "This will we do, if God permits." (6:3) (tap permits). These verses belong to the part of the letter that Favor's introduction begins at 5:11, Let’s press on to perfection, and Favor's Hebrews 5 gives its opening verses. These notes give 6:1-3 as the WEB has them. They say no more of anything in the list than its own words, rank none of it, and apply it to no church's teaching today.
Where the Old Testament leads here
He swore by himself
Genesis 22:16leads toHebrews 6:13-18
"I have sworn by myself" (22:16). Hebrews says God "swore by himself" when he made this promise to Abraham, quotes it, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you" (Hebrews 6:14, quoting 22:17), and calls it "a strong encouragement" for all "who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us".

The Greek word behind it
ἐνδείκνυμιendeiknymisay en-DIKE-noo-mee
Strong's: "to indicate (by word or act)". "We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence" (6:11): behind show is this verb, and it is behind showed in the verse before, "the labor of love which you showed toward his name" (6:10). Hebrews has it only in these two verses (counted in RP2018, and in all eight editions TAGNT compares).
