2 Kings 12: A hole in the lid
Read 2 Kings 12:1-21 before you meet.
In a few lines
Jehoash did right "all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him" (12:2), and 2 Kings leaves it there. The damage was repaired once Jehoiada set a chest with a hole in its lid beside the altar, and no accounting was asked of the men who paid the workmen, "for they dealt faithfully" (12:15), words Josiah would use again (22:7).
The verse to carry
“Jehoash did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.”
2 Kings 12:2
To talk about
1. Jehoash did right "all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him" (12:2). Who has helped you do what is right, and what would change for you if that person weren't there?
2. Twenty-three years in, the damage was still there, until someone changed how it was done: a chest with a hole in its lid (12:6-9). Is there something that has stayed unrepaired in your life because nobody changed the way it was being handled?
3. The men who paid the workmen "dealt faithfully" with money that wasn't theirs (12:15). What have you been trusted with that belongs to someone else, and what would dealing faithfully with it look like this week?
