2 Chronicles 25: Much more than this

Read 2 Chronicles 25:1-28 before you meet.

In a few lines

Only 2 Chronicles tells of the hundred talents: when Amaziah asked what to do about the silver he had paid for Israel's soldiers, the man of God said, "The LORD is able to give you much more than this" (25:9). And the king who did right "but not with a perfect heart" (25:2) went on to set up the gods of the people he had just defeated as his own (25:14).

The verse to carry

“Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.””

2 Chronicles 25:9

To talk about

  1. 1. "But what shall we do for the hundred talents?" (25:9). What have you already put in, money, time or effort, that makes it hard to do what you know is right?

  2. 2. The king told the prophet, "Stop!" (25:16). When has someone told you what you didn't want to hear, and what helps you listen instead of shutting it down?

  3. 3. Amaziah did right, "but not with a perfect heart" (25:2). Where in your life right now is your heart only partly in it, and what would a whole heart look like there this week?
