2 Chronicles 19: Not for man, but for the LORD
Read 2 Chronicles 19:1-11 before you meet.
In a few lines
Jehoshaphat's reason for his judges, "there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes" (19:7), is Moses' own description of the LORD, "who doesn’t respect persons or take bribes" (Deuteronomy 10:17), given as the reason for how Judah's judges were to judge.
The verse to carry
“He commanded them, saying, “You shall do this in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.”
2 Chronicles 19:9
To talk about
1. Jehu's words held both: "wrath is on you" (19:2) and "Nevertheless there are good things found in you" (19:3). When someone tells you a hard truth, what helps you hear the hard and the good together?
2. "You don’t judge for man, but for the LORD; and he is with you" (19:6). Where this week are you deciding something, big or small, that you could do as for the LORD, knowing he is with you?
3. Jehoshaphat "went out again among the people" and "brought them back to the LORD" (19:4). Who could you go out to this week, and what would it look like?
