"but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law" (3:9). What were they?
The letter doesn't say. Its words are, "but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain." (3:9). It names no one and no teaching, and these notes don't either. They identify the questionings, the genealogies, the strife and the disputes with no teaching, group or people, then or now.
