Romans 6 · a question people ask
"Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" (6:1). If grace abounds, why not?
The letter asks the question itself, and answers it: "May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?" (6:2). It asks again at 6:15, "Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?", and gives the same answer: "May it never be!" (6:15). Then it goes on, "Don’t you know that when you present yourselves as servants and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?" (6:16). These notes say no more about the question than the letter's own answers do.
