Romans 13 · a question people ask
"Owe no one anything, except to love one another" (13:8). Is that love ever paid in full?
The verse says, "Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." (13:8). It leaves "to love one another" out of "Owe no one anything", and it doesn't say whether that love is ever paid in full, or how much of it is owed. The verses after it say what love doesn't do: "Love doesn’t harm a neighbor." (13:10). These notes don't go beyond the verses' own words.
The verses
“Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.”
“Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.”
