Revelation 12 · a question people ask

"a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet" (12:1). Who is the woman?

Here is what the chapter says of her. She is "A great sign" seen in heaven, "clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (12:1). "She was with child. She cried out in pain, laboring to give birth." (12:2). Then "The woman fled into the wilderness" (12:6). The book doesn't name her, and these notes don't either.

Revelation 12: The woman and the dragon

The woman has "a place prepared by God" (12:6), and when the dragon persecutes her, she is given wings "that she might fly into the wilderness to her place" (12:14). The place God prepared, the chapter calls her place.
