Mark 14 · a question people ask
"You have heard the blasphemy!" (14:64). What blasphemy?
Mark tells the order, and no more. Many "gave false testimony against him, and their testimony didn’t agree with each other" (14:56), and of the words about the temple, "Even so, their testimony didn’t agree" (14:59). The high priest asked, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" (14:61), and "Jesus said, “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky.”" (14:62). "The high priest tore his clothes" (14:63) and said, "You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" (14:64). "They all condemned him to be worthy of death" (14:64). Mark doesn't say which of Jesus's words the high priest meant, and these notes don't say either (tap blasphemy).
