Luke 8 · a question people ask
Jesus asked, "Who touched me?" (8:45). Didn't he know?
Luke doesn't say whether Jesus knew who it was, or why he asked. Here is what Luke tells. "When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes press and jostle you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”" (8:45). "But Jesus said, “Someone did touch me, for I perceived that power has gone out of me.”" (8:46). Then "When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling" (8:47), and she declared "in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately" (8:47). Then Jesus spoke to her: "Daughter, cheer up. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace." (8:48). These notes add no reason to Luke's words.
The verses
“Jesus said, “Who touched me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes press and jostle you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’” But Jesus said, “Someone did touch me, for I perceived that power has gone out of me.” When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before him declared to him in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. He said to her, “Daughter, cheer up. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.””
