Jude 1 · a question people ask

"remember the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1:17). What does the letter say the apostles said?

In the text

The next verse gives their words, in the WEB's own quotation marks: "They said to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.”" (1:18). These notes name no apostle, say nothing of when or where they said it beyond "They said to you" (1:18), and set no other verse beside it.

The verses

“But you, beloved, remember the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.””

From Favor's study of Jude 1

Jude 1: Contend earnestly for the faith

Jude says, "while I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I was constrained to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith" (1:3). One verse holds both what the letter was eager to write about and what it was constrained to write.
