Isaiah 60 · a question people ask

When will all this happen?

In the text

The chapter's last words give no date: "I, the LORD, will do this quickly in its time" (60:22) (tap quickly). The one sentence has both quickly and in its time. It doesn't say when that time is. These notes work out no date from it and set out no plan of the last things.

The verses

“The little one will become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation. I, the LORD, will do this quickly in its time.””

From Favor's study of Isaiah 60

Isaiah 60: Arise, shine

Zion is told to shine because "your light has come, and the LORD’s glory has risen on you" (60:1). Near the end she hears, "the LORD will be your everlasting light" (60:19); everlasting light, or olam, stands in the Hebrew Bible only in 60:19-20.
