Genesis 26 · a question people ask

Was Isaac blessed because of Abraham?

In the text

The LORD says so in his own words: "I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father" (26:3), "because Abraham obeyed my voice" (26:5), and "multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake" (26:24). He also speaks to Isaac directly: "I will be with you, and will bless you" (26:3), and "I am with you" (26:24).

The verses

“Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my requirements, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.””
Genesis 26:3-5 · World English Bible
“The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.””

From Favor's study of Genesis 26

Genesis 26: Room for us

The LORD gave Isaac the promise he had sworn to Abraham, and the Bible's first uses of the words for commandments, statutes and laws describe how Abraham obeyed. Isaac repeated his father's "She is my sister", was blessed a hundredfold, and kept digging wells until the LORD made room at Rehoboth. His neighbors said, "We saw plainly that the LORD was with you."
