Exodus 7 · a question people ask
Did God make Moses a god?
No. Moses had just said, "Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh listen to me?" (6:30). The LORD answers, "Behold, I have made you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet" (7:1), and explains at once: "You shall speak all that I command you; and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh" (7:2). He had said the same at the bush: Aaron "will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God" (4:16). Moses gives the word and Aaron speaks it, the way a prophet speaks for God. Moses himself speaks only what God commands, and "Moses and Aaron did so. As the LORD commanded them, so they did" (7:6).
