Acts 5 · a question people ask
Did Peter's shadow heal people?
Acts says that "By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people" (5:12), and that "They even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mattresses, so that as Peter came by, at least his shadow might overshadow some of them." (5:15). It goes on, "The multitude also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits; and they were all healed." (5:16). Acts doesn't say whether Peter's shadow fell on anyone, or what happened if it did, or how those of 5:16 were healed, and these notes add nothing to its words. Nor do they say that a sick person lacks faith, or that a healing is owed.
