Acts 16 · a question people ask

"immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia" (16:10). Who are "we"?

In the text

The chapter doesn't say. From 16:10 it tells the story as "we": "Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace" (16:11), "We were staying some days in this city" (16:12), and "Following Paul and us, she cried out" (16:17). Favor's introduction to Acts follows the "we" through the book in Suddenly, "we", and says what is said here: the book doesn't say who "we" are, and Favor doesn't guess.

The verses

“When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them. Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis; and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the foremost of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.”

From Favor's study of Acts 16

Acts 16: What must I do to be saved?

Before the jailer ever asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" (16:30), a girl had cried for many days that these men "proclaim to us a way of salvation" (16:17). The answer came in one line: "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (16:31).
