2 Peter 3 · a question people ask

"what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness" (3:11). Does the chapter ask this, or tell it?

In the text

It asks it. In the WEB the sentence doesn't end at 3:11: it runs on through 3:12, and its question mark stands at the end of 3:12. The words of 3:11 name "holy living and godliness" (3:11). These notes explain the question no further than the verses' own words.

The verses

“Therefore, since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?”
