2 Chronicles 4 · a question people ask

Ten tables and ten lamp stands, or one of each?

In the text

2 Chronicles 4 says ten of each: "He made the ten lamp stands of gold according to the ordinance concerning them" (4:7), and "He made also ten tables" (4:8), and it speaks of "the tables with the show bread on them" (4:19). 1 Kings has the lamp stands, "five on the right side and five on the left" (1 Kings 7:49), and one table: "the table that the show bread was on" (1 Kings 7:48). Later in 2 Chronicles, Abijah speaks of "the pure table" and "the gold lamp stand with its lamps" (13:11), and Hezekiah is told, "We have cleansed all the LORD’s house, including the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels, and the table of show bread with all its vessels" (29:18). The Bible doesn't say how these fit together, and this answer doesn't guess.

2 Chronicles 4: Water to wash in

1 Kings 7 measures the sea and the ten basins but never says what they were for. 2 Chronicles says it in one verse, with two Hebrew verbs for washing: the basins were "to wash in them", the things of the burnt offering "were washed in them", "but the sea was for the priests to wash in" (4:6).
