"Even so the Lord ordained" (9:14). What did the Lord say, and where?

In the text

The verse gives what was ordained, not the words: "Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Good News should live from the Good News." (9:14). It doesn't quote a saying or say where or when it was given, and the chapter doesn't either. These notes don't say which words it means, and apply the verse to no one today.

1 Corinthians 9: Am I not free?

1 Corinthians 9 asks, "Am I not free?" (9:1), and sets out a right, then says, "Nevertheless we didn’t use this right" (9:12). It uses the same word for free again: "For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more." (9:19).
