Song of Solomon 2: The voice of my beloved
Read Song of Solomon 2:1-17 before you meet.
In a few lines
The beloved's words in 2:10-13 open and close with the same call, "my love, my beautiful one, and come away" (2:10, 2:13). And the roes of the charge (2:7) are the same Hebrew word as the roe the beloved is likened to (2:9, 2:17).
The verse to carry
“My beloved is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies.”
Song of Solomon 2:16
To talk about
1. "His banner over me is love" (2:4). What do you notice about how 2:3-6 speaks of love?
2. The chapter comes back to a voice again and again: "The voice of my beloved!" (2:8), "the voice of the turtledove" (2:12), and "Let me hear your voice" (2:14). Why do you think it keeps returning to the voice?
3. "For behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone" (2:11). What do the words of 2:11-13 make you see and hear?
