Romans 6: Alive to God

Read Romans 6:1-23 before you meet.

In a few lines

Romans 6 asks its own question, "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" (6:1), and answers, "May it never be!" (6:2). It says of Christ, "Death no longer has dominion over him!" (6:9), and "he died to sin one time" (6:10). And it sets wages beside a gift: "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (6:23).

The verse to carry

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

To talk about

  1. 1. "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be!" (6:1-2). Why do you think people sometimes hear grace as a reason not to change?

  2. 2. "present yourselves to God as alive from the dead" (6:13). What would it look like this week to present something of yours to God?

  3. 3. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (6:23). What difference does it make to you that eternal life is called a free gift, not wages?
