Romans 16: Greet one another

Read Romans 16:1-24 before you meet.

In a few lines

In the Greek, Romans has its verb for greet 21 times, and every one is in its last chapter, beside people it calls beloved, fellow workers, and those who labored much in the Lord. And it opens with one person, Phoebe, who "has been a helper of many, and of my own self" (16:2).

The verse to carry

“For your obedience has become known to all. I rejoice therefore over you. But I desire to have you wise in that which is good, but innocent in that which is evil.”

Romans 16:19

To talk about

  1. 1. "that you receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints" (16:2). What would it look like for this group to welcome someone new in that way?

  2. 2. The chapter greets people by name and says something of each, like "who labored much for us" (16:6). Whose work for others could you thank by name this week?

  3. 3. "But I desire to have you wise in that which is good, but innocent in that which is evil." (16:19). What helps you grow wise in what is good?
