Romans 14: We are the Lord’s
Read Romans 14:1-26 before you meet.
In a few lines
Romans 14 opens with "Now accept one who is weak in faith" (14:1) and says "God has accepted him" (14:3); in the Greek, accept and accepted are one verb, and it comes back in "accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you" (15:7). And the chapter ends in praise "to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ" (14:26).
The verse to carry
“For if we live, we live to the Lord. Or if we die, we die to the Lord. If therefore we live or die, we are the Lord’s.”
Romans 14:8
To talk about
1. "Now accept one who is weak in faith, but not for disputes over opinions." (14:1). What helps someone feel welcome when they come into a group like this one?
2. "For none of us lives to himself, and none dies to himself." (14:7). Who has shown you what it looks like not to live to yourself?
3. "let’s follow after things which make for peace, and things by which we may build one another up" (14:19). What is one small way we could build one another up this week?
