Romans 12: A living sacrifice

Read Romans 12:1-21 before you meet.

In a few lines

After the praise that closes chapter 11, Romans 12 urges "by the mercies of God" (12:1). The whole chapter names Christ in one verse: "we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another" (12:5). And it speaks twice of "the grace that was given" (12:3, 12:6).

The verse to carry

“Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:2

To talk about

  1. 1. "but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (12:2). What helps your mind be renewed in an ordinary week?

  2. 2. "so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another" (12:5). What would it look like for this group to belong to one another?

  3. 3. "in honor prefer one another" (12:10). What is one way you could prefer someone else in honor this week?
