Romans 11: God didn’t reject his people
Read Romans 11:1-36 before you meet.
In a few lines
Romans 11 asks, "did God reject his people?" and answers, "May it never be!" (11:1). It gives God's answer to Elijah, "I have reserved for myself seven thousand men" (11:4), pictures a root and its branches, "it is not you who support the root, but the root supports you" (11:18), and ends in praise: "To him be the glory for ever! Amen." (11:36).
The verse to carry
“Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!”
Romans 11:33
To talk about
1. "And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace." (11:6). Where do you find it hardest to receive something from God as a gift rather than try to earn it?
2. "How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!" (11:33). Where have you met something in God's ways you couldn't trace out, and how did you respond?
3. The chapter ends in praise: "For of him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen." (11:36). What is one thing you want to give him glory for this week?
