Romans 10: Faith comes by hearing
Read Romans 10:1-21 before you meet.
In a few lines
Romans 10 gives the words "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (10:8), and goes straight on: "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (10:9). And the report of 10:16 and the hearing of 10:17 are one Greek noun.
The verse to carry
“that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9
To talk about
1. "my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved" (10:1). What do you think it looks like to pray for people with that kind of desire?
2. "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (10:8). When has that word felt near to you, and when has it felt far away?
3. "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (10:17). Think of a time you heard the word of God in a way that stayed with you. What helped you listen?
