Psalm 98: All the ends of the earth have seen
Read Psalm 98:1-9 before you meet.
In a few lines
The last line of 98:3, "All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God", is word for word in Isaiah 52:10, and the two verses are the only places the Hebrew Bible says "his holy arm". And the psalm names the nations and "the house of Israel" in one breath (98:2-3).
The verse to carry
“He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.”
Psalm 98:3
To talk about
1. "Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things!" (98:1). If you wrote a new song this week, what has God done that would go in it?
2. The psalm calls the sea, the rivers and the mountains to join the song (98:7-8). Where have you been when the world around you made you want to praise?
3. The psalm gives "he comes to judge the earth" (98:9) as a reason to sing. Does that feel like good news to you, or something harder? What makes the difference?
